Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A male was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.
He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.
"These kinds of being offered, normally online, have actually undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.
"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
